60th National Meeting
November 8-12, 2009 in Denver, CO

Join AALAS & Save Money $

The 2009 AALAS national meeting will be in Denver, November 8-12. There is a very nice advantage for persons wishing to attend the meeting from the local area. ANY EMPLOYEE of a facility that holds an AALAS Institutional membership can attend the meeting for the one day registration fee of $85. That is right - any employee of the institution and they do not have to be either a local or national member.

This is a wonderful opportunity to have many of the scientific or administrative staff to attend a national meeting without having to join AALAS and at a drastically reduced rate. The one day, not pre-registered, fee for 2009 will be $290/day. The facility must be an Institutional member to take advantage of this savings. If your facility normally will pay for only individual membership for a couple staff members, this is the year they should join as an Institutional member to take advantage of the reduced one day registration fee rate.

MILE HIGH BRANCH TO HOST OPENING RECEPTION

National Meeting in Denver

Mark your calendar! November 8, 2009, 6:00 PM, Colorado Convention Center. The Mile High Branch will be throwing a party for about 2500 of our closest AALAS friends. Immediately following the opening general session (5:00 PM), the MHB will host the opening reception in the beautiful lobby area adjacent to the Wells Fargo Theater.

The National Meeting Local Arrangements Subcommittee (NMLAS) is busy planning for our big event. Tentatively, the local "voice band" Face is being contracted to sing our National Anthem for the opening of the session and close with the Eagles, "Rocky Mountain Way". They will also perform a few songs from the lobby balcony at the beginning of the reception. Additionally, the Air Force Academy Falcon Unit will be with us during the reception to allow us visit and learn more about their falcons, the training program and see the birds up close and personal. Our menu has not be set yet, but we will probably have typical mountain fare of a nacho bar, Rocky Mountain oysters and a flowing cider fountain.

We will need the help of all MHB members to fill the many tasks that we face this year. We will need to provide two color guard units that week. One to open the session on November 8th and a second one to open the exhibit hall on Veterans Day, November 11th. If you are aware of a color guard unit that be part of these events, the NMLAS would love to hear from you. 2009 is the year the Mile High Branch will shine in the national spotlight! Be part of the fun!!!
